Book off is the largest second hand bookstore in japan. Founded in 1990, the first store opened on may the second of the same year. The company grew fast in japan, despite the economic stagnation that followed the collapse of japanese asset price bubble, and has now over 800 stores all accross japan.
In february 2000, the book off opened outside japan, in hawaii. In 2013, the company counts 13 stores outside japan in USA, France, Canada and South Korea.
