Kikkerland Design and The Container Store have been working together for more than 15 years so it's no surprise that they've partnered again to launch the Home Design Challenge. The contest is open to the Industrial Design program at Rhode Island School of Design. This is Kikkerland eighth annual challenge and this year, the goal is to create an innovative product that could "re-think the organized home". The dream of every young designer is to see his creation produced and it may come true with this contest.
There are three design categories. The Connected Home, to Respond to the impact of technology on all aspects of home living and cord management, The Healthy Food, to Offer answers to food prep/cabinet storage/meals-on-the-go based on current health trends and The Celebrity Effect, to Create a storage and organization solution for the increased use of make-up, more jewelry and nail polish, creating a need for customized storage and organization.
Each submitted design will have to fill The Container Store's basic requests and be representative of Kikkerland's fun yet functional distinctive features. Customers will be able to vote for the People's Choice Winner then the prototypes will be submitted to the jury (buyers, merchandisers, industrial design professionals). The winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony that will take place on December 4, 2015.
