Apple, Samsung and Android have all released their branded mobile payment solution over this last couple of years. Walmart follows their lead by launching its own payment system, featured in the retailer's mobile app. Unlike its Apple, Samsung or Android competitors, Walmart Pay works on any kind of smartphone (whether it's iOS or Android), with any major credit/debit/pre-paid card as well as Walmart gift cards, at any checkout lane, in any Walmart store in the US.
Fast, easy and secure, Walmart Pay has been developed for customers to save time: “The Walmart app was built to make shopping faster and easier. Walmart Pay is the latest example – and a powerful addition – of how we are transforming the shopping experience by seamlessly connecting online, mobile and stores for the 140 million customers who shop with us weekly” explained Neil Ashe, President and CEO of Walmart Global eCommerce.
Walmart Pay comes in addition to the features already available in the app, such as checking in to pick up an on line order or refilling pharmacy prescriptions. Walmart Pay is being rolled out progressively since last December and should be available nationwide by June.
