Shoes of Prey is an Australian company created in Sydney, in 2009, by Jodie Fox, Mike Knapp and Michael Fox. Their business is custom-made shoes, using a 3D design software: you can choose the shape, the heel, the fabric, the colors and embellishment (or not) of your shoes with endless combinations, making sure your pair is not only exactly the perfect one you've always wanted, but also completely unique. And it's fun! The shoes are usually made in four weeks.
In the US, Shoes of Prey design studios have been installed this spring in six Nordstrom locations -Arlington (VA), Bellevue (WA), Newport Beach (CA), Oak Brook (IL), Paramus (NJ) and San Francisco (CA)- and on Nordstrom online store: “With personalization becoming more important to how the customer views good service, it’s important for us to find opportunities to stay increasingly relevant,” says Scott Meden, Nordstrom Executive in charge of the shoe business.
Since Nordstrom wants to multiply personalization services and Shoes of Prey aims to develop its business in the US, the first has invested a lot of money for the second to expand. The first step was the relocation of the footwear manufacturer headquarters from Sydney to Los Angeles. Nordstrom investment will now help the company to increase its production capacity as well as the development of new products.
